Unicode styled characters depend on font support. Some fonts render certain styles differently. Try another style (like Mono or BoldItalic) if you see odd characters.
HL makes the first non-empty line bold, then converts β- β and β* β into ββ’ β bullets and converts β-> β into ββ β arrows.
Use Tx to clear formatting for selected text, or Tx+ to clear formatting from the whole text.
